How the GHK-Cu calculation works

Concentration

Milligrams in the vial ÷ mL of water = how many mg sit in each mL.

Dose ÷ concentration = how many mL you need to draw.

Units on the syringe

mL × 100 on a U-100 or U-50 syringe (or × 40 on a U-40) = the mark to stop at.

The whole thing in one formula

units = dose ÷ (vial ÷ water) × 100

Vial in mg, water in mL, dose in mg. The 100 covers U-100 and U-50; swap it for 40 if your syringe is a U-40.

Worked example

A 50 mg vial with 5 mL of water gives 10 mg/mL. A 2,000 mcg dose takes up 0.2 mL — that's 20 units on a U-100 syringe.

Context

GHK-Cu in context

GHK-Cu is a tripeptide (glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine) bound to a copper ion. That copper is what gives the reconstituted solution its characteristic blue colour — if your vial didn't turn blue after adding water, it's worth questioning what's in it.

It's well known as a topical cosmetic ingredient, in serums and creams. The injectable form is research territory: it has no approval as a medicine and the doses in circulation come from informal protocols, not from a label. This page doesn't recommend using it — it just solves the math for people who already do.

Practically, GHK-Cu inverts the usual scale. Where a semaglutide vial holds 5 or 10 mg, GHK-Cu vials come with 50 or 100 mg, and reconstitution uses larger volumes — 5 or 10 mL. High concentrations with doses of a few milligrams produce small marks on the syringe, so the choice of water matters more here than with almost any other compound.

It's the usual advice for any reconstituted peptide, and it counts for more here: the vial is large and lasts months. Refrigerated, in its box or wrapped, away from direct light — and keep an eye on the colour, which should stay blue and clear.

The copper. GHK-Cu is the GHK tripeptide complexed with a copper (II) ion, and copper complexes in solution are blue. A colourless solution after reconstitution is a reason to question what's in the vial.

5 mL is the most common volume and gives 10 mg/mL — a 2 mg dose sits at 20 units, comfortable to read. With 3 mL (16.7 mg/mL) that same dose would land on 12 units; with 10 mL it would rise to 40. All of them work; only the reading precision changes.

Same molecule, but not the same product or the same dose. Cosmetic serums and creams carry GHK-Cu at very low concentrations for the skin; the injectable form is research-grade and has no approval as a medicine. One doesn't validate the other.
